I joined Zaber Technologies in 2001. We worked out of founder, Rob Steves', living room in a rented house, figuring out how to design and build precision motion control equipment. With only occasional sales, we all had side jobs. We grew the company from three people into one of the top motion control companies in the world, and one of the best places to work. We made mistakes and learned a lot along the way but the most important factor in our success was creating a great culture and hiring great people. We nurtured an environment where people could thrive.
I stepped down from the executive team in 2023 to shift to a role where I could help others have success through coaching.
I always had a deep curiosity about consciousness and the nature of the universe. I was fascinated by physics and how we experience this reality with time and matter. My exploration of psychedelics started with wanting to know more about consciousness, what's behind the physical world we live in, and if there's a god or something bigger than us. I quickly learned that psychedelics had a different plan for me - therapy.
I experienced a lot of growth and healing with psychedelics (often painful), and through that, a deeper connection with the world and people. Psychedelics can reveal some big insights but most of my growth and development came between psychedelic sessions. IFS was a big factor for me.
Early in my journey I joined a weekly "man club" with a couple of close friends where we practice compassionate witnessing - sharing emotions that come up with things going on in our lives, then reflecting back what we witness in each other. It was therapeutic and made me realize that I wanted more close connection like this as part of my work.
That's what got me to explore coaching. I took a coaching training program and then IFS therapy and psychedelic assisted therapy and combined them into a coaching practice. I continue to take courses and workshops, adding tools to my practice how they best fit in.
An overarching theme of my journey was letting go of control and the need to figure everything out myself, trusting others more, trusting myself more without having to know all the answers, and trusting reality to unfold the way it's going to unfold.
In an organization, trusting and empowering people yields better outcomes and more lasting success. And it makes for a better workplace for everyone.
I'm a father and husband. I enjoy mountain biking, making music (guitar, bass, singing), skiing and other sports and activities. Mindfulness and moving my body every day is key for my mental health and makes me a better person to be around.
